Smarterbuildingtech.com Returns Policy
At Smarterbuildingtech.com we want you to be completely satisfied with the products your purchase from our store. In order to provide you with consistently low prices, we enforce the following returns policy. By purchasing from this site, you agree to be bound by the conditions of this returns policy. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, please do not use this site.
All products, unless specifically excluded in the product description are subject to the terms and conditions of our returns policy. Smarterbuildingtech.com reserves the right to exclude certain products from our standard returns policy and this exemption will be clearly stated in the product description.
Any special order or customized items are specifically excluded from our standard returns policy. Orders accepted for customized or special order products are non-cancellable and the items are not returnable.
RMA Numbers: A Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number must be received prior to returning any equipment by calling our customer support number. All products must be returned in new condition and in their original packaging, including installation manuals. Any packages that arrive without a valid RMA number will be returned to sender as we have no way of tracking the return. Please reference the RMA number on the shipping label.
Restocking Fees & Shipping Costs: For all returns, products that have been damaged, opened or are not returned in the original packaging will be subject to a restocking fee. Unless a product is received DOA, the customer is responsible to pay all costs of shipping back to Smarterbuildingtech.com and to insure that the product is correctly packaged for shipment.
Items Damaged During Shipping: Insurance is your responsibility. In no case shall Smarterbuildingtech.com be responsible for returned equipment that has been damaged in transit; therefore we strongly recommend that the customer purchase insurance from the freight forwarder equal to the value of the product.
International Shipments & Returns: Customs, Duties and import fees for any shipments outside of the United States are the sole responsibility of the customer. We cannot calculate or include the costs associated with importation fees, customs or brokerage charges which may vary depending on your location and the laws of your country.

The First 30 Days from the Date of Shipment:
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, the item may be returned within 30 days from the date of purchase for a 100% in store credit or an 80% cash refund. All cash refunds are subject to a 20% re-stocking fee.
- Return for Credit: Once we receive your item back; if it is in new and resalable condition, we will issue you in store credit equal to 100% of the total sale price minus the cost of shipping and handling. You can use the credit to purchase any items we offer including sales items and special offers. You cannot return an item and order a duplicate and or identical item due to a temporary sale price or a permanent price reduction due to market adjustments. All in store credits expire 12-months from the date of issuance.
- Replacement: We offer replacement of any defective or non operational item purchased. We will email you a UPS shipping label to return the item. When we receive the item we will UPS a new item back to you.
- Return for Refund: Receive a refund of the total sale price minus the shipping costs and a 20% restocking fee. This policy is firm. All sales are final. Please do not purchase from this site if you do not accept the refund limitations.
- Upgrades: If you find the item purchased is not the right item for the job. You can return it for a 100% in-store credit which you can use towards the purchase of other products we offer.
- Paid Advanced Replacements: We offer pre-paid advanced replacement if you are returning an item for repair or replacement within 30 days of the date of purchase. This option allows you to purchase a new item and have it shipped directly to you. Once we have received the non functioning DOA item back we will issue a full refund minus the cost of shipping for the item. As with all returned items, to receive a full refund the item must be received in like new condition in the original packaging and must include all supporting manuals, document and parts. Partial and or damaged returns will be charged a restocking fee.
30 day shipping dispute policy
If you feel that there is an error in your shipment, please report any shipping disputes immediately to one of our customer service representatives at 1-866-999-8824. Disputes received after 30 days of shipment will not be considered.
After 30 days from the date of purchase:
Smarterbuildingtech.com will not offer refunds or credits after 30 days from the date of shipment. After 30 days, the terms and conditions of the manufacturer’s warranties and policies apply to all products.
